Yuchu Gao, born in 1993 in Tangshan, Hebei, China, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Painting from Wimbledon College of Arts, University of the Arts London in 2016, and enrolled in the sculpture class at the Academy of Fine Art Munich (Prof. Nicole Wermers) in 2018, where she will graduate in early 2024. She works primarily with paintings and drawings, that are inspired by different materials and places. The thematic focus of her current work is informed by ancient statues and contemporary portraits.
